Ritchie Smith Associates provided site planning services for the university's campus expansion to create an enhanced identity and a more pedestrian-friendly campus with significant outdoor spaces. The new west campus was organized around the Great Lawn, a 1,300-foot linear open space marked by a bell tower, with tree-lined walkways and gathering areas. Site planning addressed pedestrian and vehicular circulation to coherently link new development with the existing campus. A new campus arrival area was designed for a positive first impression and clear orientation. Services included site and landscape design for new buildings, including the fine arts center, the science building, and four student housing quadrangles.
