Memphis, Tennessee
Ritchie Smith Associates (RSA) has designed a series of gardens for the Memphis Botanic Garden, beginning with complete redesign of the Japanese Garden. That project was followed by site planning and landscape design for the new Botanic Garden Visitor Center, including entrance courtyard, reception terrace, and sculpture garden. Subsequently, RSA designed the Four Seasons Garden, featuring an open plaza to host gatherings and framed by a formal grid of trees for shaded seating. The Tennessee Bicentennial Iris Garden was redesigned to display a world-class collection in a commensurate setting. RSA has maintained a relationship with staff and board members, working with four garden directors.
