Ritchie Smith Associates (RSA) designed a new courtyard and surrounding landscape for the Fogelman College of Business & Economics at the University of Memphis. Working with the dean, donors, and U of M staff, RSA prepared plans that reshaped a 1960s era outdoor space, improving its use and the school's public identity. The courtyard was redesigned to accommodate daily activities of students and faculty as well as special events for the school and the community. New planting, café tables, lighting and an ornamental fountain create enhanced appeal and comfort. A grass terrace to the west of the plaza extends park-like views and provides for informal relaxation. On the east are garden niches for display of works from the university's art department.
