Memphis, Tennessee
The new Clark Opera Memphis Center was built to house the administrative offices, small performance space, and rehearsal hall for the world-class, regional opera company. Ritchie Smith Associates, in collaboration with Anne Waring, RLA, provided landscape design services to extend the opera's artistic expression to the landscape. The scope of services included site planning for vehicular and pedestrian routes, as well as grading refinements. The planting was designed with subtlety in certain areas to reveal the sculptural building forms. At the center's primary entrance and fountain courtyard, the plant palette was enriched. The facility has become a popular meeting and cultural center for the community.
